Roberto and Rob: Short Film
This was a 3D short film I created in my final year of studying Interactive Multimedia Design at Carleton University.
Challenge
Model, rig, and animate a character following a storyboard that I produced. In order to track the movements of my character I used a motion capture system at Carleton University, and then applied the mocap data to the rigged character I created. I then applied this animation to a scene and environment I created in Autodesk Maya.
Takeaway
Really learned the massive amount of work that's put into creating just 60 seconds of animation. One of the biggest issues I encountered when working on this project were the long render times needed in order to produce high quality frames.
Contribution
- Modelling the characters and environment in Autodesk Maya
- Rigging the characters with controls for animation
- Motion capturing each character's movements
- Applying animations to the scene and rendering out the frames
